| Besides
beautiful women, did you know that Colombia has coasts on both the Atlantic
and the Pacific? As a matter of fact, Colombia is known as "The Gateway
to South America".
Because it is so close to the equator, the country boasts a dramatic
variety in its geography, unique in the continent. The Andean zone
has mountain tops capped with snow. To the east and covering half of Colombia,
are vast plain lands that end at the Amazon Jungle. To the west of the
mountain chain are the rain forests along the Pacific coast and to the
north is the Caribbean coast. This immense topographic variety is the
reason for Colombia's many different climates each directly related to
the altitude.
The
turbulent rivers, virgin forests, mountains, volcanoes, beaches and Islands
make Colombia one of the most beautiful countries in Latin America.
